Join us for a film screening of
Raised / Razed on March 22nd from 11:00AM – 1:00 PM and March 29th from 5:30 – 7:30PM at Lane Auditorium at the Albemarle County Office Building on McIntire. The screenings will be followed by a conversation with the film makers, Lorenzo Dickerson and Jordy Yager. Parking for the screening on the 22nd will be limited, and carpooling is highly encouraged.
Raised / Razed dives deep into Charlottesville’s oldest African American neighborhood, charting the lives of residents as they faced racially discriminatory policies and a city government that saw them as the only thing between it and progress.
This film screening is sponsored by the Coalition’s
ARISE Committee and the Albemarle County Department of Social Services, to help local organizations understand the real history of white supremacy and structural racism in our community. The screening is part of the Coalition’s work to promote a common language and understanding of racist attitudes, values, and beliefs, and to create racial awareness that brings transformative change. Please spread the word to your staff and Board members!
